Granite post for tethering horses. Shanxi or Shaanxi province, 19th.C. or earlier. The post is crowned by a not often seen image of a monkey holding a piece of fruit between his paws. Rare example complete with it’s base. Dug in it’s 157cm above the ground. Width and depth are 19 and 24cm.
