A set of tiles from a Chinese temple depicting a dragon chasing the flaming pearl among clouds. The set consists of three tiles measuring aprox. 60x36,5cm forming a tableau of 180x36,5cm. Based on the style of the dragon and the clouds the set dates from the Ming period, most likely 2nd half 16th C. The scaled body of the dragon stands out 5cm from the green background. Traces of chalk mortar that once kept the tiles in place are clearly visible. At the back there are a sort of protruding vertical ribs that probably functioned as spacers to prevent the tiles from getting stuck in the oven. The set is in fine condition with only some minor damage and no restorations.
