A sandstone kang stone, used to close the oven's firing gate. Shanxi province, Gaoping or Changzhi county, 18th or 19th century. The frontside is decorated with a running deer, the backside with a type of chamois. The base looks low and there are clear marks of an electric grinder under it. Apparently they have been cutting away a damaged part of the base. Dim.: WxDxH 37x12x30cm.
