An ancestor painting on canvas, Shanxi province, 19th century. The canvas consists of three vertical strips that are joined. In general the canvas is in a good condition. There are however some spots in the upper part that show damage and repaired holes as can be seen in the pictures. Judging the colours of the figures, they have been refreshed recently. This is seen often and should in many cases -where the touch ups are older- be regarded as a refreshing for ritual use. Dim.: WxH 130x220cm. The canvas is unmounted. The size can be reduced by mounting it on a wooden fame along the black bordering lines. The size then will be aprox. 110x197cm.
